Troop 543

Our mission is to help Scouts grow into individuals of strong character and leadership. Through activities like camping, hiking, cycling, and more, we offer exciting adventures while instilling values from the Scout Oath and Law. Active participation leads to the most rewarding experience, and we encourage both Scouts and parents to get involved. The troop is boy-led, meaning Scouts take responsibility for planning, activities, and leadership roles, with adults offering guidance.

Skill Building

These boys acquire essential life skills that guide them in becoming young men who actively contribute to their communities. They learn to work together, prepare meals, manage their time effectively, and practice first aid. Additionally, they master skills like knot tying, fire building, and the Leave No Trace principles, ensuring they are well-rounded and responsible individuals.

Leadership

Scouts provides boys with essential confidence and leadership skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. By learning to collaborate effectively as a team, they can successfully complete missions together. Additionally, the National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) program offers a multi-day course focused on hands-on learning in a fun and engaging environment. These participants enhance their confidence and leadership abilities through a mix of activities, presentations, challenges, discussions, and games, all while fostering teamwork.

Community Service

The Troop lends helping hands as often as possible. They assist their charter organization, Robeson Lutheran Church, by helping at their events like the Trunk or Treat, Holiday Bazaar, and Souper Bowl Sunday. In addition, they help the community with Flag Ceremonies, stocking shelves at the local food pantry, and of course, Scouting for Food in November.

“We must change boys from a ‘what can I get’ to a ‘what can I give’ attitude.”
